Folicule carbon black pigment

That distinction is the whole answer to the blue-hair problem. Standard black tattoo ink is often a blend containing blue or green pigment particles. Those particles are smaller and more mobile, so as the black component fades, the residual blue or green becomes visible. A true carbon black has nothing to reveal — it simply fades toward a softer warm grey, which reads as natural hair shadow all the way down.
