Scalp Micropigmentation in Los Angeles

Scalp Aesthetic Studio is a private scalp micropigmentation studio on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Every hairline is drawn for one face, one growth pattern and one lifestyle — then built slowly across sessions so the result reads as hair, never as ink.

In short

Scalp micropigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that places thousands of microscopic pigment deposits into the upper layer of the scalp to replicate the look of natural hair follicles. In Los Angeles it is used to rebuild a receded hairline, add visual density to thinning hair, and camouflage transplant or surgical scars.

At Scalp Aesthetic Studio the work is done by hand at a depth of roughly 0.6–0.8mm with follicle-matched carbon-based pigment, and every plan begins with a complimentary in-person consultation.

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp micropigmentation — SMP — is a detail tattooing technique built for one purpose: imitating a hair follicle. Instead of lines or shading, the artist places individual dots that vary in size, tone and spacing so that the eye reads texture rather than pattern.

It is not a hair growth treatment and it does not involve surgery, incisions or recovery downtime. Nothing is implanted and nothing is removed. Pigment sits in the upper dermis, shallower than a conventional body tattoo, which is why an SMP result softens over the years rather than spreading or turning blue.

A full result is layered across two to three sessions spaced one to two weeks apart. Each pass deepens density and corrects tone, and the final session is where softness and realism are earned.

  • Non-surgical, no incisions, no anaesthesia
  • Microdots placed at 0.6–0.8mm in the upper dermis
  • Carbon-based pigment matched to your natural hair tone
  • Built over multiple sessions, not one sitting
  • Immediate visual density — no waiting for growth

Who is SMP for?

SMP suits anyone whose scalp shows through more than they would like, whatever the cause. Most clients who come to our Los Angeles studio fall into one of four groups.

  • Receding hairline — rebuilding a natural, age-appropriate frame around the temples and forehead
  • Thinning hair and diffuse density loss — reducing scalp-to-hair contrast so existing hair looks fuller
  • Hair transplant gaps — softening a harsh surgical hairline or filling under-populated donor zones
  • Scars — camouflaging FUT strip scars, FUE dot scars, burns and surgical marks
  • Alopecia areata and totalis — restoring a defined hairline where growth is unpredictable
  • Shaved-head clients who want a crisp, intentional buzz-cut illusion rather than a bald crown

Natural Results, Designed for You

A hairline is a design decision before it is a technical one. Two men with identical recession need different hairlines because their skull shape, brow height, facial width and age are different. A template hairline is the single most common reason SMP looks artificial.

We map your hairline in person, on your skin, in the light you actually live in. The frontal edge is drawn broken rather than straight, with stray outliers and a soft transition zone — the way a real hairline behaves. Density is graded from light at the front to fuller behind, and pigment tone is mixed to match your hair and skin contrast rather than defaulting to black.

The standard we hold ourselves to is simple: the work should survive harsh overhead lighting and 10x macro inspection. If it only reads well in soft light, it is not finished.

Why Clients Choose Scalp Aesthetic Studio in Los Angeles

Los Angeles has no shortage of scalp micropigmentation providers. What separates a result you forget about from one you manage is customization, restraint and follow-through.

One artist, start to finish

Hannah Lee designs, executes and refines every case personally. There is no rotation of technicians between sessions, so the tone and hand that started your hairline are the ones that finish it.

Custom pigment, not a single black

Pigment is mixed per client and per zone. Temples, hairline edge and crown rarely take the same dilution, and matching them correctly is what keeps the work from reading as a flat shadow.

Verified under harsh conditions

Before you leave, work is reviewed under direct lighting and macro magnification. Any dot that behaves differently from its neighbours is corrected at the refinement session.

A private studio

Sessions are one-to-one in a closed room in the Miracle Mile district, minutes from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Koreatown and Mid-City. Discretion is part of the service.

How the Process Works

Consultation is required before any pigment is placed. It is complimentary, takes 20 minutes, and exists so that both of us are confident in the plan.

1. Consultation

We assess your hair loss pattern, scalp contrast, skin undertone and scar tissue if present, then discuss the look you want — from a conservative mature hairline to a fuller frame. You leave with a written plan, a session count and an estimate. Nothing is decided in the room under pressure.

2. Session one — foundation

The hairline is drawn and approved on your skin before the first dot. This session establishes the base layer: placement, spread and a conservative tone. It intentionally looks lighter than your final result.

3. Session two — density

One to two weeks later, once the first layer has settled, we build density and correct any area that healed lighter. Most of the visual transformation lands here.

4. Session three — refinement

The final pass is detail work: softening the frontal edge, blending the temples, adjusting contrast. Results are gradual and achieved over multiple sessions to ensure a natural, undetectable finish.

5. Aftercare and guarantee

No washing or sweating for four days, no direct sun for two weeks, SPF afterwards. Your work is covered by a 12-month touch-up guarantee.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered plainly.

Does scalp micropigmentation look natural?

Yes, when the hairline is designed individually and built in layers. Natural results come from an irregular frontal edge, varied dot size, graded density and pigment matched to your own hair and skin contrast. Artificial results almost always come from one template hairline, one pigment tone and a single rushed session.

How long does SMP last?

The studio's SMP maintenance and refresh guidance is 4–5 years, not a guaranteed duration. Timing varies with skin, sun exposure and aftercare. Routine refreshes are separate from the existing complimentary minor refinement within 12 months of the final scheduled session.

Is SMP painful?

Most clients rate it two to four out of ten — comparable to light scratching. The needle works shallowly, so the sensation is far milder than a conventional tattoo. Temples and scar tissue are the most sensitive zones, and topical numbing is available for them.

Where is Scalp Aesthetic Studio located in Los Angeles?

The studio is at 5773 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036, in the Miracle Mile district with parking on site and easy access from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Koreatown and Downtown LA.

How many sessions will I need?

Two to three for most cases. Scar camouflage and alopecia sometimes need a fourth. Your exact count is confirmed at consultation, not estimated over the phone.

Can I still shave and go to the gym?

Yes. Once healing is complete you shave, swim and train as normal. During the first week we ask you to avoid sweating, steam and direct sun so the pigment settles evenly.
